Coordination means to organize any activity with two or more groups so that they work together efficiently and know what the others are doing together. Coordination helps in every group activities it is one of the very important roles of doing the group tasks. A person has to link these diverse groups towards the achievement of a common goal. The process by which a person or individual synchronises the activities of different departments is known as coordination.
Coordination is the force that binds all other functions. It is the common thread that runs through all activities to ensure the continuity in the working. The process of coordinating of activities begin at a planning stage itself. In an organisation, it is through the process of coordination that a manager ensures the orderly arrangement of individual and group efforts to ensure unity of action in the realisation of common objectives. Coordination therefore involves synchronisation of the different activities or efforts of the various units of an organisation. This provides the requisite amount, quality, timing and sequence of efforts which ensures that planned objectives are achieved with a minimum of conflict.
Why coordination is important for group activities and also in an organisation?
Coordination is important as it integrates the effort of individuals. The primary reason for coordination is their departments and individuals in every place are interdependent, therefore they depend on each other for information and resources to perform their respective activities. Thus, a person need to reconcile differences in approach timing effect or interest at the same time there is a need to harmonize individual goals and organisational goals.
It helps in growth in any work the no of peoples are increasing and there is functional differentiation it helps in division of every departments and section that which person doing which job a person is comfortable in those particular activities are happy to do the productive activities. They have to depend on each other for information to perform their activities. The activities of each department need to be focused on the attainment of common goals the process of linking the activities of various departments and sections is accomplished by coordination.
